TidBits from our Web Page, SouthWest PA DuVall -4 of 52 Weeks.

We started this site in mid early 90's.  It needs more work which happens when my cousin is not competing with her health issues.  Decided people may be missing lots of information that is up here.
We have two sites but will only work on one today.
Originally all the trees here were proven then we opened it to cousins and kin to help fill them out and they did not all site there sources. Ours are moved to the second site due to running out of room.

I have attended DuVall Reunions in Torrington, Wyo with my parents in the 1990's.
I also attended one in the 1980s with them. My brother went to another one with them.
I have recently learned the parentage of Jane Patterson and her heritage back to Ireland.
I still have no proven parents for Elizabeth Ritchey, Ritchie,my other ancestressthat married into my other Duvall line. I am a Duel lined Duvall and maybe even a tri line farther back in France.
My goal is to reach the waters before I do major European research.
If you just scan the titles you will see there is much research done and shared.

52 Weeks down 2,,, Thomas SCOTT, Halifax Co. Virginia

Thomas SCOTT born 1730 (?) unknown where or when.  1730 is a guessed date due to other events.
Thomas Scott died 1767 Halifax Co. VA.  Will Printed below.

The will of Thomas Scott of Halifax Co. was written on 25 January 1767 (Halifax Co. Will Bk. O, p. 215-216). Thomas Scott being very sick and week but in perfect mind and memmory ordaineth this his last will and testament that is to say first of all I devise my land where on now I live the hole tract may be sold for money to pay all my just debts and the remaining part of the price of the land may be aplyed to the necessary support of my family. Next it is my will and desire that my wife Susana Scott may have negro girl filis with all my other movable goods also all my chattels of every kind for the support of her self and my children in during her lifetime and at her deth what is remaining to be equally devided amongh my children quantity and quality and I do hereby appoint constitute and ordain Francis Brandon with my well beloved wife Susana Scott my only and sole executors in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written Signed Thomas Scott and Sealed and Delivered in the presence of Nathaniel Ayers, George Roberts, William Payne.
At a court held for Halifax Co. 19th day February 1767 the within written last will and Testament of Thomas Scott Decd. was exhibited in Court by Francis Brandon Executor and Susana Scott Executor therein appointed who made oath thereto according to law and the same was proved by the affirmation of Nathaniel Ayres, William Payne two of the subscribing witnesses and ordered to be recorded and the said executor and Executrix having together with Nathaniel Terry? Gent. their security entered into and acknowledged bond as the law directs on their motion. Certificate was granted them for obtaining a probate of the said will in due form. Tese. Robert Munford Clk. Truly recorded Test. R. Munford Ck.?
The inventory of the estate was probably made in May 1767 (Halifax Co., Va., Will Bk. O, p. 226-227).
The inventory of the estate of Thos. Scott decd. This is followed by three lines of inventory that can’t be read from my copy. The value of each item is given at the end of the line. Because of the way the next page is copied, about three lines are omitted at the top of the page. To. 1 pan; To. 8 spoons and 1 churn. To. 3 axes, 2 how, 1 mattock, 1 wedge, 1-----, 1 pinchers?; To. 1 sining wheal, 2 other wheals, 16 whole stick?; To. 1 parl button & ? –potrach?, 1 g-----; To. 3 –2 saddles; To. 4 sheep, 1 black mare; To. 1 set of plow irons; To. 1 ---- ---- mare, 1 black horse; To. 5 geese; To. 2 hens?; To. 5 cows with yearlings; To. 4 bells; To. 1 Box iron cups and ----- 1 lock; To. 2 chests of books; To. 9 chairs, 1 conk shell; John Lawson, William Brandon, John Colwell. At a court held for Halifax County the 18th day of June 1789, the written inventory and appraisement was ---- ordered to be recorded. Test Robert ---- (probably Munford).

This man was learned because of two chests of books.
Many imply wife Susana may have been a Payne. Some strongly feel that Susana was Lurana. I read the written Will and it looked like Susana to me.  Much research has been done but nothing to indicate father of Thomas, yet to be discovered. Though I found papers that named two brothers of Thomas Scott.  It seems everyone on the right path but the pieces are not complete.

There is probably a William Scott, James Scott and Robert Scott as siblings of Thomas. These names are again used in his children.  Various court cases brings out different data and names.  These names carry down to the generation before myself.  A lot of un resolved issues with my Scott family.

When Ken Scott did the book somehow he missed looking in Halifax, Co. VA for Thomas's Will. What find that was.

Shadrack SCOTT* son of John b 22 Feb 1790 Pittsylvania Co. VA, died 11 Nov. 1850 Henry Co. , IA.

Looking for anyone who may have inherited other data to help clarify the siblings and parentage of Thomas Scott.

I do have more tidbits that tie many of the names together but not the data we are in need of yet.

After Thomas Scott death his wife remarried to a Smallwood Marlowe. He again remarried about 1786 so she was probably gone prior to. Smallwood Marlowe did not give the children their inheritance that was give into hands to prevent trouble, which ended up being trouble. Nimrod, being 21 sued.

52 Weeks Down One. MADISON, MATTISON

52 Weeks Down One.

Week 51 is,  do I continue on with Haines collateral names or move to another.

Suspecting another name may be more interesting to others since that one did not generate any feedback.

So sharing what little information I have on a major brick wall.

SUSAN MADISON/MATTISON  was born, surely she was not hatched, or came down from a space ship.  She might just as well have for the lack of information, though many have attempted to assist, including several years ago the Mattison Association worked with me a bit also. Every Susan they had was married to someone else and died in a different place.

Family lore is she  married Noyes JONES in about 1832 near Holyoke, Mass.  Family lore says she was born in MASS.  Census data implies she was born four different places. Interesting right?
She definitely must have been married to Noyes Jones, they had many children together and moved from New York to Iowa. She died there 13 Feb 1881 Chickasaw Co., IA.  They lived in Nunda, Ill after leaving New York and after the CW they moved to Iowa. Loosing a son in the war. Yes, I have read his papers.

She is listed on the census as spouse of Noyes Jones so marriage was somewhere. ?

Posting the census information that has been gathered.   Also want to say there was family concern over her birthdate, being between 1812 and 1818 which is on tombstone. 24 March .

@I found it interesting that the JONES brand found in Petersburg, NY was the same brand my Dad used in Valley Ford, CA.  We never knew this, Dad would have been so pleased.

Petersburg Historian has sent me data on JONES but alas MADISON/MATTISON is a void.

Finding this information, I suspect he is her younger brother:

52 Ancestors My Way HAINES

Dec 28, 2013,  on this blog site I posted about the Haines family.  That will be my first post for the year 2014.  This lineage links back to the Baron and Baronesses of Europe along with Kings and Queens.  It was a find that was not expected, but gratefully taken.

Susi's Chatty Performances on Genealogy- Some Family Updates, Wo

Now to remember to weekly add a new name to this great adventure. O yes, having picked the next name it should be just as intriguing as this one was.

Now I should ask, if anyone has any early Haines pictures they would like to share. Wills, Obituaries or other information.  My lineage is posted and it is Catherine Haines from whom I descend.  Maybe a picture of where they lived, town or house or region.  Very large family in New Jersey.

Goals, Hoffman/Huffman/ Jones/ Myers/ Wright/ Berry & Scott.

Yes my basic goals are set.  Working on my files, brought these names to the top to play with in random order this year.

If I can locate and talk with more Jones kin maybe a blank can be filled in. Or maybe the portraits of Noyes and Susan Madison JONES will be located.

The Huffman/Hoffman files have sat with little additions on the early years.  Uncle has come up with new information for me to hear so will have something to digest and see what fits where.  I know Lloyd Roupe had John Huffman/Hoffman's data and he was Henry dcd 1812 father.  A letter written in 1830's and sent and found in Ohio trunk states that John's father was also a John.    That brings up what cousin in Bay City, Michigan has already found.  Their was three + boys, we know John,  George and Henry.  So was this John is the same as sibling or as parent?  I have no idea which.

Myers, well that is a stumper big time for more than 50 people for more than 70 years.  Hoping to take a different approach and ask for my Ydna samples from various Myers, Meyer's, Meiers, Mohr to find the answers.  If you have any of those variants please contact me. Caroline and I are working hard to find a few real answers.  Bible says Philip to Valentine to John born in Dauphin Co. about 1809.
Church records reveal different data regarding birth, suspecting first John died and last born was renamed for first born.  Also suspect family story has many errors in memory.  If you have any records regarding Myers/Blessing/ Blessingers/Folk,Foulk,  please also contact us.

Wright is  very early for me. It is also very recent since my nephew is a Wright.  Jesse Wright was born 19 Nov 1749 in Hillsborough, NH ? I had found it earlier as Mass. .  Have more research to do on that.
His wife was Abbey Cook b 1739 d 1784. His death was 10 March 1834,  Guilford, Piscataquis, Maine. Their daughter was Hannah Wright married Abraham D Young Sr.

Jesse Wright, of Dracut, settled in 1774 on the lot now known as the Davis Nevens farm, which he bought of Bagley and Little, May 29, 1774, for "three pounds of lawful money." The deed, still in existence, was acknowledged before Stephen Longfellow, of Portland, and witnessed by Nathan and Jonas Coburn. Mr. Wright's first log house was just east of Meadow Brook. His brother Joel and Timothy Wright came about 1777.
I found in New Hampshire Birth Records, Early to 1900, records of Jesse and Joel Wright, both born 19 Nov. 1749, and Timothy Wright, 2 Aug. 1744, all born in Pelham, the children of Jonathan and Abigail Wright. Three earlier children of Jonathan and Abigail were born in Dracut, so the family seems to have moved across the border to New Hampshire in about 1742-44.

It looks like Jesse Wright was from Dracut, Mass., and/or Pelham, N. H. From Elder's History of Lewiston,        Chris Dunham

Berry is early for me, but have recently learned another direct descendant on the female side is also a Berry.  So I am duel enforced Berry early.  Also interested in Berry because it is attached to THE LOST COLONY.  Also to Jamestown in Virginia.  If you watch data on The Lost Colony you will learn the names of those lost and how many of those names show up in Jamestown and even later they show up in the Pilgrims in Mass.   I am a descendant of Richard and Alice Berry of Mass of England.

Scott has proved very intriguing in where it can be found. Yes, Lost Colony, Halifax Co. Virginia, New England, Jamestown etc.  DNA has connected Halifax Co. VA 1740  to Canadian, New England Scott line.  Thinking different ones ( same family) arrived in different places.
