Ahh Taxes at the Office and back to Research.
Back to Research
Stumbled across lots of forgotten tidbits as I dug for papers for tax time. The last year was
interesting and hectic and we survived.
Having had two surgeries in 8 weeks and a son having major cancer surgery and radiation, plus
the last two grandchildren graduated from High School, the spring flew into summer. Spend 6 weeks almost in Michigan. (I really love that state) better we love our family members whom are there.
Having a cousin that lives about 40 miles from our son and his family. The cool thing is the son loved this cousin's Grandfather very much and named his first born son after him.
Came home to our Anniversary and then Comic-Con and then my birthday and cousins' birthdays.
Son's Birthday and Anniversary and life moved on. Hubby had eye surgeries and the entire fall was on hold for certain activities to happen. They did not happen as scheduled. What's New?
So mail that came in while I was gone I set aside to address later. Later is now. I have found a picture of Great Uncle Dan Scott and his wife Great Aunt Grace Hoffman Scott. Also have found other data that needs to be entered into the system and shared. Yes, Great Aunt Grace Hoffman Scott was my Grandfather Cecil Lee Hoffman's sister. She also had a brother Robert with a wife Laura, who stayed in Iowa.
We are communicating with several of his Grandchildren that live all over midwest.
I found other pictures in this folder and it is of the family in Iowa. I am planning to scan them into the system and share them.
Also cousin Twyla Richard's shared medical data on the family and that is a real plus. We could so help each other if medical data was shared and more prevention was put into play with our living.
Husband said he completed lots of items on his Bucket List. Gee, I was happy for him.
Today, Hubby actually shared a story about his Grandparents and I was so thrilled to hear him talk about them. It saddens me that he did not get to spend much time with either of them or get to know them better. Maybe he would be more interested in his family if he had.

Inez Mae Scott wife of Cecil Lee Hoffman
Being so excited, I thought I would post this here. A cousin in Mystic, Iowa; sent me a picture of my Grandparents. Actually she sent three of them. One, MOM had and I can not find, so it has been replaced.
The older picture was taken in their home in Wheatland, Wyoming. 1958. It said on side of original picture if I recall correctly. I believe Mom took the picture, year I graduated and went to see them.
One is of Grandma and Grandpa with a new born baby, no idea which child. Was it their first, I do not think so but could be wrong. I am hoping cousin Mildred Scott in Wheatland, Wyo can answer a couple of questions.
Janet, I never met Great Uncle Walter, that I recall. He was in IOWA. Great Uncle Walter was Grandma's brother. But one brother came to WYO to see us on one trip, no idea now which one. Uncle Dick may know.
Inez SCOTT HOFFMAN's and Walter SCOTT's parents were:
Cornelius Scott and Ella Warden.
Ella Warden Scott (1862 - 1918) - Find A Grave Memorial
Cornelius F. Scott (1856 - 1918) - Find A Grave Memorial
They had according to my records, census, marriage and personal data:
Daniel: whom I met and sat on his knee when he told Sis and I family stories. His wife was
Cecil Lee's sister. Grace Hoffman. He had 3 sons. His son Ralph Scott, was close and
we shared lives for many years. We knew him and wife and all the children. Grew up
with them from early 50's until death. Ralph and Nadine visited ( FRED and I) in HI.
Ralph and Nadine E Scott had : Dean, DARREL, Jeannie, Ivan and Thomas. I think Jeannie's real name was Virginia. I communicate with Patty, Dean's daughter who lives near our son in MI. Patty has a sister in Northern CA. Also try to keep in contact with Jeannie. When young we shared a lot of time together.
Daniel Francis Scott (1880 - 1957) - Find A Grave Memorial
John:
Mary Emma:
Gertrude R:died fairly young have pic of her funeral, d1937
Minne B:
Inez Mae*: ours
Harrison: lived in Colorado and we met him and his wife and two children. He was a Carnival
entertainer. He could bend like a pretzel. Have a postcard of him. Had to quit because
knees would not let him stand up.
Walter: grandaughter sent me the pictures. Thank you. Janet. He may be the one who came to Wy.
James: Mom said we met when I was teen, young. Met several
and can remember visiting homes but not all the names.
Fern, visited Great Aunt Fern in Casper, Wyo several times, and enjoyed the children (Cousins) wrote to Betty for years until her death. She even had a sister Roberta like I did.
Inez Mae Grandma, I love you and I so loved your brother Daniel, he shared so many stories and events. I am seriously still considering hypnotism if they can get my brain to recall them. I know you told us we may be kin of the kidnapped baby that was famous, I draw blanks when looking. I
enjoyed visits with your baby sister Great Aunt Fern in Casper, Wyo and her children.
Amazed to learn I knew so many of the Scott family. Thank you God.
Not forgetting James and Ethel Scott, Don Larson, Ralph Scott and Nadine Edminston? Scott. Dean Scott, Darrel Scott Milt Ret. , Thomas Scott. All gone on.
Looking for Ivan Scott. Cousin where are you now?
Mildred Scott hope to see you this summer.
I might even get to IOWA to see my other Scott cousins, wouldn't that be fun.

Thomas Scott of Halifax County, Virginia
Thomas Scott was born about 1730, was it in Virginia, we are not sure?
Thomas Scott married Lurana/ Susana (Payne? ).
They had several children. As to who is oldest and youngest is not yet known by myself.
Kenneth Scott spent many years tracking down our family. He missed Thomas's Will because of boundary changes and county being changed with Pittsylvania being added. Of that, I am sure.
He did such a great research of the family for the time frame and computers lacking.
Having located these names for children: John (ours), Nimrod*(was a Minister I learned yesterday, William much data is surfacing for him, Ann Scott, Mary Scott, Sarah Dupea, Ann** b 1758 m Jesse Ashlock 6 Sept 1785. O Yes I forgot Jacob, Isaac

"An Act for the benefit of Allen C. Scott" Added by JGSwallow on 20 Nov 2008 CHAPTER I60 AN ACT for the benefit of Allen C. Scott. Scott, assignee of Gabriel Scott, assignee of John Scott, sr., for two hundred acres of land, lying in the county of Cumberland, on the waters of Sulphur Lick creek, No. 10,520, so as to read "Allen C. Scott, assignee of Nathaniel Scott, assignee of John Scott, sr.;" and, also, to make the records of his office conform to said alteration; and that said register issue a patent to said Allen C. Approved January 23, 1851 Acts of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Passed By Kentucky Published by , 1851 Item notes: 1850-51 v.2 Original from the University of California
From the History of John Scott 1761-1843 by Kenneth Scott.......John, Jacob and nephew Allen Clement Scott (son of Nimrod,Sr.) along w/wife and his sister, Sallie married to William Scott, came in the same wagon train to their new home in Kentucky. Nimrod, Sr. followed 1817-1820. This group of Scotts were in the south central section of the county and were spread early north from the state line along Kettle Creek and on Pearidge up to at least Galloway Creek. This group of Scotts by far have the largest number of descendants in the Cumberland County, Kentucky area.
I would also add that John and Jacob's immediate family members were included in this wagon train, since all records indicate such.
John Scott's Rev. War pension file has a Charles Thurman who makes oath to the service of John Scott in the Rev. War. 17 Jan. 1832 in Cumberland Co.
