JONES KiN ==== Some many years ago , Dad's cousin found us.

Many years back Donald Jones came to visit us with his wife. The line DAD had looked for for eons. Many weekends we would crawl into the truck and go slowly down the road reading the mail box names lookin for JONES. WE met many but we never found his Uncle or his cousins. Lots of really nice people though. See Dad's family split when they were very young. But he remembered visiting his cousins a couple of times. they lived in Iowa then. They went to visit them. Once when a cousin was very mean to his own sibling and thought it was very funny. Showing off to these new family members. It did not set well with Dad or his younger brother. Which helped for them to look for our side. Years later as adults both sides looked for their family that they lost in divorce and in anger. (Adults) Both boys remembered different stories and would tell us children with much sadness in thier voices. Luckily the cousin that came to visit was not the down line of the so unruly child of one of my Great Uncles. That was also sad because they did not know why they left Iowa and came to CA. Thankfully our Uncle Gerald was able to share the story of the events that caused the rift. One was our Grandad and his brother were racing horse and horse and buggy to the house. Going over the cattle guard one fell off the buggy and it broke his back. The other boy helped him to get to the house but his back was broken from the Cattle Guard on the bridge. The other incident before that was the visiting of the other brother and one of his family children doing something so sad I won't say what it was. But it was very painful and bodily harming. That child his wife told us carried the scars to his death. NO IDEA what ever possess children to do this type of thing. Fortunately the son with broken back shared a store with that brother and when things got worse they left Iowa and came to California. The brother our Grandfather went to WYOMING to live with cousins. They remained friends as best they could though of massive distance back then. Wife of cousin seriously injured said he forgave that other brother when they grew up. Since it was a family internal event it did not involve our side. Not the horse racing brother he stayed friends. To this day I can not remember which was on horse and whih was on buggy. LaMnte or Carl F. Great Uncle of ours and our Grandad. The other incident was when they were much younger and had traveled back to Iowa to see family. The boy when he grew up spent years looking for Uncle Gerald and Dad as I & Uncle Gerald was told by cousin's wife of, to say Thanks for what you did for me. It was implied that the one boy had serious consultations and forgave that brother his bodily harm. They actually lived together in later life. Sadly I did not get to meet him, I did meet the wife whom shared much with us here. The 2 boys were in a Adult home for the aged at that point. The boy with broken back lived in California and died a much younger death due to hardship and body discomfort from back being broken. He was decesed before DAD started to look for him sadly. Yesterday I located the photo Don and Flora took and sent us to share with family I will poat it here. IF I can figure how. Having commmunicated with the family of these people. Thankfully they overcame the worst and kept some communication. My brother went to a reunion for the kin in CA not far from him. Cousin Don and his exteneded family from Great Uncle Lamonte have had reunions I was hoping to attend but brother made one at least. Ray Dee Jones Jr is brother. He still lives closer to them than I. I married a serviceman and we are settled in San Diego, CA. Yes Don Jones was Lamonte's last born child and the thrill when family was found I can not tell you the feeling. God was good. I know that Lamonte Jones had children and their names. I was told some of the grand chidlren were Highway Patrol men that actually covered area where we lived in Sonoma Marin Co. I have talked to several of the descendants and would truly love to meet them in person before life ends. The same applies to those left in Iowa. What a great friendly caring group of cousins they have been in writing and talking. I want to go see The LITTLE BTOWN CHURCH in The Dale. That GGrandfather founded. So sad Cousin Charles Jones died before I got to meet him. I do talk to his daughters. Yes we can claim that story as fact. O yes we have a few of them in MINN and maybe Dakota's not yet found. Luckily one lived near in Fallbrook and we have shared times together she is now in AZ. IF any of this story sounds familiar and you are part of this family please get in touch with me. Dad would so loved to have known you. Susi Jones Pentico.. Dad was Ray Dee Jones Sr his Dad was Carl Fremont Jones his Dad was Calvin Fay Jones and Hannah Young Jones. Nashua Ia area. His father was Noyes Jones and Susan Madison Jones from NY to ILL to IA.

Father's Day Was HIP HIP HURRAY

Father's Day was Hip Hip Hurray, It actually covered 3 days. What a surprise that was. Dinner with Bob and Candy on Friday and great meal at Denny's. Saturday we had BBQ with Zack, BJ and Renee". Also Alan and Heather too. Zack cooked. Sunday was Fred and I . Candy brought over Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Which we had for breakfast this am with coffee. Thanks it was YUM YUM. All his children called and some of his grandkids came over or called also. HIP HIP HURRAH.

Our American Beginnings Everyone is Forgetting

The first oppressed people were the Indians that greeted us and helped us to survive. Still today they are not given the recognition they deserve and yes some did not deserve much recognition. Our Negroid race are fabulous people. But for reperations they need to seek it from Hollandd or Netherlands. They are the ones who bought those as slaves and sent them all over to make money and to cut back on the internal fighting that was upsetting their goals. In Africa, I do not think many have studied our past history especially of the world. WE do not owe the black??? enslaved people the Netherlands did it they owe us all something. Those who were shipped here were truly saved from a slavery they did not even precive . We in turned saved them from what those left behind has had to survive to live through. Many tribes did not survive these major upheavels in Africa. I read the paper today and they still are squabbling instead of attempting to work together and change everyones lives there. Amazing how beautiful this place must have been. Granted after early people bought slaves some were very mean and ugly but many were not mean or ugly. They were taken care of far better than those left behind. DO SOME HOMEWORK. Another thing is very few of us if any, are not not of a form of a mixed race. Formost I am an American but of many past descendants. Have you studied history? Do you realize how many countries the first people's kin migrated through and how the family changed constantly. Do you have any idea how many centuries we are have been hanging around? Have you done your CRI Genetics and learned more about your past, not your names but heritage? The last two thousand years has been semi well recorded. I have lived long enough to say massive major changes. Hurray the Negroid race has been recognized. The Indians still on Reservations and told what they can or can not do. Todays news said Negroid people were being recognized shame on them as journalists they did not do their homework Remebering if they, Indians hadn't helped the early Europeans we may not have survived to today. I can say I am proud to be part of many nations in my past including 3 tribes at least of Indians. I still have one I am looking for in Indian heritage. I am who I am and you are who you allowed yourselves to be. No one can make you be different. I know many well recived people that heritage came out of Africa. Most all can succeed if they try hard and our fellow man steps up and realizes we are all human beings. So far we have not found a a Martian or Venusian or other out of this world people here. All can move forward if they have manners, and earn others respect and do unto others as you wish done onto you. Having read the records of how Teague JONES was treated by the Mayflower people and then the Judge pardoned him for his deeds done which Judge said was appropriate due to the methods treated by them. Many quickly went to Rhode Island and north to Novia Scotia. We have a very mixed past and no one was perfect. Enjoy reading the National Geographic Magazine, The Archeology Magazine, Many books in History Section of Various Libraries throughout the USA. History abouds all about us. You have to keep your ears open and your eyes to see what is really around you. Not just what you perceive. I could not decide if I wanted Archeology or Teacher or Write as I graduated from HIgh School. I never took my finger off the three of them. Data talked about above was located in various books over eons of my lifetime. My latest read was The American Heritage Book of Indians, Dell Publishing Co. Inc., Copyrighted 1961 by American Heritage Publishing Co., Inc. 9th printing 1974. Reread: Without Indentures: Index to White Slave Children in Colonial Court Records. (Maryland and Virginia) Richard Hayes Phillips, Ph. D., Copyright 2013. Genealogical Publishing Company Much in the first book seems to not fit what we are being told today,. there are several pages regarding one of our ancestors, Alas we need to write our own stories as we go because the ground seems to change as time moves through. WE have many Doctors, Lawyers, Congresmen, Judges, writers, Teachers, etc. that come from this early group of people. Most that were sent to slavery away from Africa were leaders in their regions and were threats to the less successful tribes or groups, Yes they were intelligent and smart, So stop selling them short or yourself. But this happened in many other areas also.

May the Force be with you.

Starting now, wow. Government is discussing loss of SS benefits. Do not like news anymore. It seems hurt and pain is on a major rise. So have you checked SS records for ancestors information? Have you looked at State records, covering events, places and o those in needbeing saved. Did you realize our ancestors had to build the road in front of their property, so long ago. They also as community built later gave water ttheir bridges and homes many and most times from scratch. They had to maintain them also. Was upset the other day, our government did not want people to fix things to save time and money or sounded like we were not to care. Just charge more, more and more. When young I was a Volunteer Firefighter. Our neighbors barn was on fire. He was at the other end of barn milking cows. Dad was running to the barn to save him and the cows. I was banging on the house door for family to wake up. We passed water buckets and Ultimately we saved most of the cows, the house and lost the barn and corral. When young we learned a shovel and dirt could slow down fire, sometimes better than water. Living in a country envirionment we learned we may be the next in need, whether it was a sudden broken bone, cut hand or leg etc. Sometimes it was just flu or twisted ankle or older age. One learns if someone is in need you step up best you can. We as Americans should remember that from our experiences from WW 2 ON.s Worse a later War brought much unhappy feelings. Thinking our country has not gotten over it even yet. We are blessed, our neighbors are caring. Our community has changed much over the years. I apply much of what I have seen in my neighborhood to how I feel families worked and shared and communicated in days of old. Remember no phone, no tv, some radio and later movies that at half time showed clips of our war. We need to think of our youth and how things were to help us resolve some of our Genealogical issues. Hoping this insight may help your researching in smaller communities even larger ones.

Blessed Greetings to All

May this holiday give you blessings no matter of what faith. May we all learn to live together and enjoy others thoughts and ideas.

Sharing Other Blog Page Today. >>> Ancestor Seekers by the Root Bound

Time to Think of How We Think. I found a saying on Facebook written by ??? but it struck a chord with me. Time to Think of How We Think. On- Webpage, Ancestor Seekers by the Root Bound. Susi's Quarter Susi's Quarter Published • Apr 8 I trust you will go there and read what I wrote. Hoping it will help us all realize we are one people on this earth. We have no opened concrete data if people are other places in the UNIVERSE. My parents taught me to respect all people. Thankfully because DNA shows we have a very distant relationship attaached to many old world groups. Understanding why Dad and his Jewish friend used to tease DAD he had to be part Jewish the way he haggled. Yes he won sometimes also. Yup we are. I hope Dad has met many of our past kin. The DNA makes life far more interesting. We need to let go of some thoughts on ability to welcome more of our truly enlarged families that we do have. OOO I am sure it grates on many and makes others say OOO NOOO. But you can take the royalty of Europe, where many lines crossed and shared and got out of hand at times. You will learn much studying Ancient History. If you are just starting research, it is enough to just sometimes find an immediately family member. It gets more intense with the third and 4th generatios of reseach. Those being your Grandparents or Great Grandparents. Being blessed with a Grandfather whose family had much data known and perserved and saved, it was a great help but still the Cedar River, went over it's banks in Iowa and much data was waterlogged and taken to the dump. WORD of ADVISE if WET FREEZE IT. I have tried with small document to see if it would work it did. NOW whether you have boxes full that is probably another matter. Cousin used hair dryer on some. Called me as he was preparing to take the last batch to the dump. Would love to have society have someone from Archives give us more knowledge on this process. The entire USA has had intense weather and flooding and I am sure many of genealogists and learning to be Genealogists would love to get this type of information for saving their data. We on Mom's side were blessed they kept the family story, at least one of them pretty well intack. Going to start writing the stories Grandad Cecil Leroy Hoffman, used to tell us everytime we went back to Wyo to see family. He would take my two other cousins & I , both male, 1 older one younger than I. Line us up on hay bailer and tell us the same story over and over for years. Alas I am the last of the three left. But that one story proved true when I was helping another person with their research. I am tracking two more stories one is really interesting but not gaining any ground. This was on his wife, our Grandma Inez Mar SCott's side of the family. Do you have old stories you can track and see if true? Do you have memorabilia that leaves you wonder what it was for or why your family has it? Many times you do not need to leave your home to start your research the questions are on the shelves in the drawers or Picture Albums. Jewelry boxes or Glove boxes used for the few pieces of jewelery they have as Inez did hers. I have the glove box Sis has the jewelery item. Same color as her birthmonth stone. Sometimes pictures give clues to past heritage, some times old passed down letters or tapestry embroderied gives you clues I hope this helps you to open your mind to your heritage and background and not be afraid of whom we have been and whom we have become. Thanks for listening. This is my Easter Gift to you all.

Hello, Learned more on JONES today.

LEARNED MORE ON JONES TODAY, HURRAY It seems it really may come to pass with a more filled out tree for female Ancestral lines. I was so excited to find this one email sent to me long ago filed in my completed folder. It was able to give me more data on some of the female married names. It also gives the surnames of more family members for us to locate. So wish they would find Noyes (Nois) Jones and Susan Madison Jones and children picture that I was told hung in the hall of his home. Some one took it home and no one seems to to know whom it went to. DO I want it no, but a copy would give me more facial features to look at to pick out kin. Yes, they seemed to follow each other across the country. It makes sense really. Someone once said were they not speaking, no I do not think that was the problem at all. Knowing there were troubles here and there but not to the point of not talking to each other. When I reached this side of the family on the phone they shared so many stories and gave me others names and numbers to contact and learn more. I have learned there is an error in happenings but it is not a big deal to me. Wanting to find the son who went missing in New York between 1850-55. Noel Jones b 1835 Massachussetts. I never found a death notice so wondered if he just didn't want to go west and stayed east. But was told he was killed and family wanted to leave the area for fresher ground. Later Noyes and Susan lost another son due to the CW. William Harrison died 31 Dec 1862 Stones River Battle. His brother was seriously injured and buried as dead. Was found and nursed back to health and walked back to Illinois. Calvin Fay my ancestor, and Great Grandfather. The home he built was almost like a southern mansion. I have a picture of it taken by a helper. (It pays to have a helper when one can not get there to learn data). I had not done that before. Proven Data. Sadly I am stopped with Teague Jones Sr. and Rahamana, (Indian proven,). I was given data from England on his parentage but now 15 years later they are back peddling. Looking for DNA match down the road. Teague fought Narraganset Indians with Richard Berry . Many records in the Daily Minutes for the Town Coucil meetings. The same applies to Richard Berry also very early kin. 28 October 1645 fought the Indians with a group from Yarmouth. England originally said this: His mother Josian Grey remarried after Christopher Jones Jr died of pneamonia. She married one of the other two holders of the ship. It was a 3 way agreement. She requested trip to America to see the land Christopher constantly talked of. Supposedly married and were taken to Boston area. ????? I beleive that is why we can not find data on Teague and due to his father being very ill he never got recorded per their rules??? Need Ship Records and names of the original 2 plus Christopher Jones. My goal was to find where from and no funds to go to England to learn more. Never dreamt they may be connected. But first notice said yes last group said could not prove. Josian Grey had three marriages is all they told me besides there was a baby. More to follow soon. SusiCP1@gmail.com

TRYING AGAIN.===WHEATLAND, WYOMING 1900 TO CURRENT.

YESTERDAY, I started and saved a major blog post to be read. Today It has gone away not to be found. Sorta odd. The post you read I wrote for a year ago spring when everything stopped. I will regenerate a post current to our topics and get it up soon. Wheatland, Wyoming you are on the hot seat. Never really realized what was there yet I knew it mentally just didn't think of it. I have toured the court house and seen my parents Marriage application and approval. Uncle Dick took me to the court house. William Richard Hoffman, ' My family and a great deal of it lived and moved in and out of Wheatland, Wyo for many years. I still have cousins there and Uncle Dick's wife. I am sure I have other cousins there that when Dad died I did not follow up on. I know the Drews' moved away. Uncle Gerald saw two of the boys in Denver area eons ago. I suspect they are all gone. I spoke with Ducima Drew about 30 + years ago. Looking for information on the HULSE, KINNAMON'S, SETTELS. BARTLETT IS FAMILY NAME ALSO. BEATTY, FOLK, FOULK, FEIL, EASTMAN, HOFFMAN, JONES, KERNS, LAWRENCE, MUSSELMAN, SCOTT, SCRANTON, PARRISH, and others. Dad died in 1995 in Santa Rosa, CA. Ray Dee Jones Sr, Mom died several years later. She was at home in Valley Ford, Ca and the property was sold. Dorothy Inez Hoffman Jones. That part of my genealogy is missing on computer have to pull out her Obit. Back up drive died while in Michigan some years back. All of this started because cousin in Wheatland called me to ask about the Dr Huffman that lived Wheatland in the 1920's and maybe later. The older generation talked but could not find clues but thought they could be related. Hoffman and Huffman in many instances is same line. Old Germany only had Hoffman. But when spoken to Englishman it had a UUUU sound so after about 1880 UU shows in their records of people going back . SusiCP1@gmail.com. Born in Greybull, WYO. parents grew up in Wheatland area around much famiily.

As My Mind Wanders, Does Yours Also?

AS MY MIND WANDERS, DOES YOURS ALSO?

My mind amazes me, why does it ask all these questions once one has gone to bed?
As digging in the dirt and pulling weeds my thinking is of applying the gardening
method to my genealogy.  Some days it pays alas many days it grabs me in the middle of
the night on the things one can do when awake to try a new way to resolve a missing
            ancestors Heritage.

            Census Data

            1.  Relook at the Census records for 5 Generations.

            2.  Did one miss a clue on one of those pages?

            3.  Census does not change it has been there ever since posted.

            4.  But boundaries do change in Census, that matters,

            5.  Names of places one learns also changed way back then.

            6.  Nicknames are used, second name verses first, is it the same person?

            7.  Are they living with other people?

            8.  Have they moved within the community?

            9.   Watch for marriages nears parents?

          10.   Watch for deaths in papers and later SS  Death Index.

You realize that is only ten topics. Betting you can find more.

Many times we have to relook at our data and see what is amiss.

Wills Revisited, ditto for Deeds, give it a whirl and let me know what you see.

Genealogy and Heat O My

Genealogy and Heat, O My Genealogy requires clear head and mind and cool surroundings. 85 Degrees makes it self noticed in my tree. Today I wandered through some other family trees. Aunt Bethel seemed to be Talking to me. By golly up comes a Great Uncle George family tree. Hi Carolyn F. Hi Charles Jones. Right after Dad died ( 1995) I picked up the phone and found some of the other down line kin in Minnesota. Blessed be some how word reached family that had been looking for my Uncle for years and they showed up on my Uncle Gerald's door. They also came to Moms' place though Dad was already gone. It was down line of family he had spent most of his life looking for. It was nothing for him if there was extra cash to fill the truck tank and we would drive various areas he heard they may be. We talked to many Jones's. Don Jones we thank you, I have communicated with many of your kin thanks to you finding Dad's address and Uncle Gerald's in San Diego. Mixing Things Up for Change.

Well, trying to revive your interest in your research and family. So today I swapped things up. Posting pictures of our youngest great grandchildren on my working blog for the people to see them. Noticing there is more sharing in many blogs and since this is the family one, I thought it would maybe generate some participation or fire up your desire to learn more about our family. Our family is large no matter from which side you come from. Forever being amazed at the more interesting people that are in our tree. We have many interesting cousins that keep it hidden. We had many Aunts and Uncles that did the same thing. War was very hard on our family, as it is on most families. Some spoke little to nothing on it and some shared some great experiences. We obviously have siblings that could chatter away if they would also. So much of our history is lost on a daily basis. So what part of our history is worth saving? Does it depend on your prospective or a cousins or Aunt or Uncle and bless us for the Great Aunt that some of us still have. Recently, being reminded to think of the past as a preteen and teen, the mind does some interesting twists. Do you remember incidents with classmates and neighbors that affected your family? Surely you do, but has much or any of these things been shared with other families. Is it in your family data base if you are doing research? Recently found a postcard of our home town of 50+ years from not long before we moved into the town. Then was reminded of some of the citizens whom migrated in a few years after us. Shared school with and some 4-H and some Church activities too. Our school was generally the meeting place. 2 Room school, with lower grades one side, upper on the other. Our town the school was key. Other towns had Community Rooms for activities. Service men came home with many stories, some funny, some sad, some glad. These people were our growing up Uncles, and later wars our cousins and some our spouses. O yes a couple of females were in the mix also. Ironic, my feelings are that it brought most families closer at that time. We mostly knew our families a bit better than today. Wishing that today we could know our kin as well as we did then. But we have buried many, we have married had children and they have married and had children etc. Dad, Ray Dee Jones Sr. said: "Family was the most important thing we have, to keep track of it and do not Loose it."
Ray Dee Jones Sr, and Dorothy Inez Hoffman Jones Will be posting on the various relatives related to them, Mom has Pocahantus, Dad has Great Chief King Massasoit Ousamequinn "YELLOW FEATHER". Dad also has Capt Christopher Jones Jr of the Mayflower fame Captain of the ship. We have many direct links to many Mayflower ancestors on both sides. More to come.

Memories of Today 4th of July 2020

SENTIMENTAL MOMMENTS, EXCUSE ME PLEASE. Today seems to just keep piling on the thoughts and memories. It is long from over. If you did not watch the MEMORIAL from WDC with our President and Military you missed a very special event in our history. Figuring Dick Eastman's post triggered this memories to come to fore, I thank you Dick Eastman, and I thank my parents for us living where we did, enduring all we did, to survive in a none accepting community. Our daughter came to her Dad the other night and said., "Dad, thank you for raising me in this community and my learning we are all the same." It startled me because feelings have run high in this home for a while now. This child was born in Hawaii but only lived there a month or so. Her siblings walked to school, not to wear shoes indoors and shared their lives with mixed cultures in our neighborhood. We all learned lots and when we were home shopping here, I wanted them to retain what they had learned in Hawaii. It was great with all the military as neighbors, we had 80 different cultures intermixed on this 1 block long street. We also had Welfare recipients as neighbors, which we qualified for but would not use. We survived. WE had block parties and group events and shared stories about our past heritage and learned so much about each other. We had Navy, Air Force, Army, and Reserves on our block and they all have different stories to tell. Around the corner we had a Dr and a Dentist too. Three of us had children the same year and they went to school all their lives together. Two neighbors are still with us. Later as the military moved away to new duties our community changed. Saying I was not happy when I had to give the children rides to Jr. Hi school to prevent beatings, torn clothes and damaged bodies. Remembering my husband was over seas defending our country. The first year they could walk with no dangers after school or before. Later our color was not liked. Because they were not black or dark brown much hurt came about. In Hawaii that was not the case. Ironic is our race does not show on our skin as much as others does. We are American's more than some and less than others. If you were born in the USA you are an AMERICAN of various descents, but American first always. The Lau law really slapped us in the face and set us back 30 years in moving forward with race mingling. It is great to be of Greek or Spanish descent never be ashamed of it but AMERICAN first. Watching the First Lady stand and smile and watch with serious respect was awe inspiring. She was foreign born. I loved when once in a while a smile crept in on her face. When papers ask I write American of:blah blah descent. We should all do that if it is important for you to remind others of your past. So today has become very sentimental for me and ashamed of some's behaviors and proud of so many others. Much goes back to not being taught the true history of our past to our younger generations 30 years ago. Thanks to those who wrote the history books the way they wanted them to read. Yup I worked in the school system for 40+ years. Was able to get one book removed and others modified twice. Our Forefathers fought hard to bring things right to our people. No one was to hold office for but a short time. We have forgotten our Constitution and Bill of Rights and so much more they left for us to copy. I hope your Fourth was more Happy and Less contemplative as mine. May God Bless American and may we stand tall to defend her as our ancestors did. Blessed Fourth of July to our Children and Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Cousins, Aunts, Great Aunts, and our friends and country's citizens.
