Sentimentally I have decided to climb up the rock and shout out, " I am not an expert. Never expressed that I was or would be."
Off the rock and no longer shouting. Yes, I have spoken to people with various degrees whom feel they are very knowing in their fields, haven't we all.
The only answer to finding answers is to dig, dig and leave no rock unturned. Sometimes Providence provides the answers when we are not looking. Serendipity anyone? O yes, we have to document, document until there is more documentation than data printed on person.
Long ago I had a website put up and it was kept well until the web person became very ill.
I am not web smart to work the site. It has fallen in need of massive repair.
When that site went up everything on that site was sourced at least two ways some times more.
As other cousins data was added sometimes things were not checked and so today we still have data that may not be accurate on the site. My recourse is to hire someone else to restructure the site and make it valid again. This I have yet to do in hopes cousin will become well and return to what they love to do.
Cancer is a mean collateral cousin in most peoples families any more it seems. If not then maybe it could be Heart Disease or Pulmonary problems as bed kin.
I recall the fun we had finding the sources and the cousins and the information to make things accurate. We recall the fun nights of laughter and cheer as we shared the many same traits in our various lineages.
The same words we used to describe things even if almost a continent apart, the hand mannerisms, the quirky hair cowlicks, the funky fingers and toes all made it more fun and interesting to continue on our search.
Some of these awesome people have passed on to the other Side. The knowledge they held was so awesome. If I had known that documentation was going to be key, many things my Grandparents told me as first hand I would have had them write it out and sign it.
Alas some that was done that way the government lost in shipment to Hawaii never to be seen again.
There was advantage of writing to the aged ones as a youth because I had kept the letters until the government so carelessly misplaced or lost them.
So as we migrated west as a family from the east coast to the west coast we retained some entities of our families past and lost some. It is so amazing how many we did not lose.
Have you compared your family traits to other collateral kin from east to west or north to south?
Have you discovered how much alike yet different that you are?
Many whom migrate loose the terms of language and attitudes of the past, ironically for some others retain a portion of them or more.

Surname Saturday with Sorting Saturday Names and Claims.
A good to do day is about to happen. With data arriving from other places and family migrating all over the places, it is time to crack the whip and dig deeper to see what can be delved.
YDNA has brought a kink in the armor of the family name. Definitely not to toss it out but the migratory pattern is a wee different than most of us have thought. If you speak one language and live that lingo and the papers say that is where you were from. Obviously you were from some where else before that to have the YDNA response that was given.
I recently gave a talk on Migration from the early beginnings of man to a late 1830s for most part.
It was done in two parts. I had studied Ancient History long ago. I find it totally fascinating and full of riddles and quizzes just like genealogy. Not understanding how anyone can do Genealogy with out
knowing the history of the place, the country, the migratory patterns used to get to there and leave there
I thought I should share some of those views with others.
Does the lack of historical knowledge slow down genealogical research, absolutely. It reminds me of the puzzle Dad used to give us and say, " Now put all the states in the right places," then he would say," what is the capitol of that state?" He did not stop there, he would ask if we knew what the states products were. if we knew if the Oregon Trail went across that state and all kinds of history questions.
Because we traveled to Wyoming, Oregon, and New Mexico and Colorado on different years we covered many of the western states. It was after marriage that I was exposed to the mid west and many years later finally arriving east.
So why these comments with the heading? It is simple, I am going to sort the name variants and the claims and see if there is a pattern to the strange assortment of spellings. I am also going to delve into the migratory pattern of the lineage in Europe mid 1600's and see if there was a backward migration time that happened.
If that did not happen then some things become obvious very fast as to the combination of genes in the line.
If as data suggests and tells us we were in Germanic region of Europe 1600-1700's then by mid 1750's we migrated to the Colonies speaking one language and carrying the customs of that language, how did the Scot Irish English get so heavy into the lineage.
The next heavy lineage is Danish, now that is not so far off from Germanic in region relations.
The Danes actually controlled a good portion of Schleswig-Holstein for several years.
Wonder what armies of Caesar invaded Scotland, Ireland and England? Back to ancient history and Rome and it's warring parties events. Benninghoff, Penticuff, Penycope, Bennycope Bennigoff, and the variants continue on.

Follow Friday, Blogs are fun to Follow
Yes, blogs are fun to follow, they break up the monotony of our digging for clues and answers to questions and some times they themselves provide the missing information one is seeking.
I thought I was following to many because I do not read them daily but when I get the chance I can read until my hearts content the different topics on the blogs that people post.
I was surprised more people did not do a follow of Marion's one on the Five Books she uses most.
What was also an intrigue to me was so many did not list a migration book in their lists.
Many sited the sources books of various dimensions and titles, but migration was not even listed in any form by them.
Am I to wonder that they never moved about and wandered down a river or up a mountain. Having a distant cousin very stuck on her lineage, possibly due to the fact it seems they never ever moved, and are basically not poking their nose out for others to find them. Even those that were in Mass., Vt., N.H., and Maine have moved around a bit.
Yes, I know New York is the Black Hole State and it was hoped they would come up from under the rock and join the rest of the world in getting information out. Yes, Hurray there are some groups working hard to do this but alas there are few government, society, historical entities that have not yet figured this out.
O, if all the counties would have followed Berks Co. Pa County administrator of years ago, what a treasure trove of data we would have at our finger tips and money could be made by the county to add to their coffers.
So Thank You to all the bloggers that I follow and enjoy reading even if it is in spurts.

Thankful Thursday 30 June 2011 Nature made from God
This has been a very long hard, trying yet enjoyable fun exciting month. Mom I so miss you. I just know what is happening is not what you had planned at least not the way it is playing out.
Yesterday would have been Mom's 91's birthday. I did not get to see her for her 90th and nor were her cards and letters shared with me at Christmas when she wanted me to re read them to her.
Burbank and Jamboree was a enjoyable interlude away from family things. I met old friends and hugged dear old acquaintances. I was introduced to and found new genealogy family and relatives.
Having attended several talks, O I missed some I truly wanted to see but God obviously had other plans.
I truly believe, if meant, it will happen otherwise accept what you receive and be thankful for that.
So as I was hunting for pictures today I found some that helped to soothe the soul and mind. I am truly a lover of nature and the beauty that it beholds. A weed is not a weed unless you call it one. It is just another plant placed here by God for us to either accept or deny. After all lettuce is just a hybridized grass, yes you eat lettuce your eating upscale grass.
I am thankful that my parents taught me to appreciate nature, to respect nature and to be mindful of the non respect to our earth. Thanks Mom and Dad, I now hope you can enjoy some of these as I do.

Happy Birthday MOM, I love and Miss You
Dearest MOM,
This is to say Happy Blessed Birthday to you. Things have not gone as you had planned but then I guess it was meant to be.
I keep going to the phone to call and hope your hearing my thoughts of you.
Trusting your in a better place, happy and content and sharing time with Dad and God.

Tuesday's Tip Think about the File Name
A day of thought and reading and reading reminds me that we all need to stop and smell the roses before we save something.
When an article comes in or e-mail with family information, think about how you label it.
Not just putting it in a folder of that surname, with date.
I am going to start a cross reference for locating my data.
I am also going to consider using more cloud than desktop or back up drive.
I discover I have many articles that are cross information for me due to family marriages.
I also have cross information on travel, places, events.
Wondering what one does when family members inter marry into the line like several times.

Thankful Thursday
I am really Thankful everyday. I am thankful for my family, for my friends, for my neighborhood and for being alive.
Being grateful that I can walk, talk, computer work and read and write.
Truly happy that we are not hot and baking in the heat, nor are we blowing in the wind as in other places of the nation.
I am most appreciative of the few records I was able to garner from Mom's even if I left more than half of them there due to no time to go through them.
I pray I have my worldly things in order properly with a competent executor and supportive family when my time comes to leave.
