Working with a Genealogist, Computer programers and others and learning lots of interesting things
in Google+ chat.
Google + is going to really be an assistant to genealogists everywhere.
I have had interactive contact with people from so many countries and so many of them into
learning about how to do their genealogy.
This evening prior to the Blogger Radio Show I spoke with a man and his wife from Iceland.
He shared a beautiful song and it's translation with us. He has his family back four generations but is
going to be working on his other side soon. He shared this awesome sight with us for
Icelandic Genealogists to use. Because the country is small they can do YDNA and have it
on line under a secure code for family researchers to see. He says he will write up a mini article on
the link and what it holds. Because it ties to their SS number and personal data to enter I could only see main page. But Icelanders that moved away can learn much about their country. Contact me for more
information.
Having shared chatting time with people from Brazil. Argentina, Peru, Chili, various areas of Mexico
we have learned more about some of the places to look for information.
We have chatted with people from Barbados, Puerto Rico, and other islands off of South America.
I have shared chat with Liam from Ireland and Jacob from Scotland and Sane (female) from
Mexico. She teaches school. Many of the people whom come onto the site are educators or
computer savvy or technical people.
Moritz has his own company in Germany and speaks awesome English. Would love to speak a tenth
as good of German as he does English. Ditto for the gentleman from Scotland with an awesomely
great sounding brogue.
Oh, yes I have met men and women from Italy, Pakistan, Kurdistan, Ethiopia, Israel, Turkey, China,
Japan. Great chatting with the people in Australia and New Zealand.
I am sharing food recipes with a man and his family in Brazil. Very tasty I must say. It seems their food
really is not that different from ours.
I have met teachers from almost all these countries or computer people of some form. Yes, it is exciting
to learn how many people around the world can speak English well enough we can understand them.'
It tells me what I have always thought that our children should be learning a second language from grammar school forward. If other countries can do it so can we.
Having been with the longest HangOut on Record it has been very educational.
What I like about it, is the circles. For Genealogists than can be like a file cabinet or note book or sleeve where you separate the names into folders. Family members of the Smiths in one circle, researchers of Canada another circle, or break it down closer to ie Toronto.
Clubs and societies can break it into board members, working groups, and members on the whole.
I have already met two new cousins doing this, met a new acquaintance from San Diego and many from all over the USA. Texas, New York, New Jersey, Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin, California
and Maine.

Thankful Thursday-- Those Places Thursday -- all in one.
Thankful Thursday with Those Places Thursday all wrapped up in one.
Last night my brother went into heart surgery and he is still with us today. This is not his first time.
I am thankful that he is still with us.
I am thankful for the parents I had and they way they raised me to look at things in life. Dad was
always saying God is with you everywhere so you do not have to be in a Church to talk to him.
Dad knew the Priests from Boys Town in Nebraska and they had a great influence on his life.
At least, that is what I attribute his way of thinking to. He had a very rough life as a small child and
they went hungary many times. Shoes were a luxury he used to tell me.
Mom was always stepping up to help a neighbor, whether they were close or farther away.
We fixed many a meal for people in need. I learned to care also by doing housework for those
in need in their homes, prior to that we went together. I met my life long friend by
doing this and have never regretted what it taught me or having been able to meet Darlene.
My parents were involved in community events. Dad was a volunteer Firefighter for the area we lived.
I was taught what to do when old enough. Our community relied on each other to survive because we
did not have access to things people in a city would have. Both parents taught 4-H classes. Dad also
worked with the FFA(Future Farmers of America). He took my cousin east for a major event when
cousins father could not go.
Though Mom did not work drawing a salary until much later in life she always was helping someone.
Many times making sandwiches at school was less work than the things done for neighbors with no
regrets.
The home they build still stands in my heart and the house shows the loss of them. The love they
shared and cared about used to echo in the walls of our home.
Knowing the house was build many years after the barn was (1854), it was a one bedroom house
home with two pantries on the back. No bath until we moved in and Dad put it in. The room was
there just not utilized. A small add on bedroom was on the south side, the kitchen and dining area was
one with stairs to the attic to sleep on side of the kitchen wall. One closet about 4 x 5 feet to the ceiling
shelves to utilize in hall to the non bathroom until I helped Dad run the plumping and the lines for
indoor bathroom. I loved the attic. It was completed finished with redwood boards and what I called
my special place. Funny how Mom always thought I liked the bedroom I shared with Sis the best but
that was never true. That bedroom was open to everyone and not private or semi private at all.
So I am Thankful for my parents and what they tried to instill in me and the home (house) that I was
raised in.
O, how I wish I had a picture of Dad tossing his hat in the door with a big cheshire grin on his face
when he thought he had irritated Mom. The look in her eyes would melt and then life moved on.

Remains have been moved due to road widing. She was buried in Bradford Twp,/Chickasaw Co.
Iowa. She was buried on border of the two counties. She is now buried in Chickasaw Co. IOWA.
As is her husband Noyes JONES
Susan implied she was born in MASS, She also told family she was married to NOYES JONES
in Mass. No proof ever located.
Their second born son was born in Mass. He also died before they left NY for Illinois, according to
family lore. NOEL JONES b 1835 Mass according to Census. Was a teen at time of supposed death,
supposedly an accident.
They were living in the JONES HOLLOW, JONES RD area of Petersburg, NY at the time of his death.
Any one with information would love to hear from you.
George Madison was a neighbor in 1870.

Sentimental Sunday or Sunday is Fun Day
Good morning world, the day started early with a text from my daughter in law in Utah.
I so wanted to be there to surprise her and see our family. Instead I am up before the birds, consoling me
soul.
I have been attempting new adventures in the genealogical world of late. Suspecting that nothing stays stable and change is always on the horizon, my adventures will soon take a new turn I have a feeling.
We have a large genealogical society but we have few working members. We have tried many things to pull members in. We have been a success in that manner but to get them involved has become an
interesting sidebar.
We have many older members that have served their time in capable positions and are ready to set back and let new members take life on. My feelings are we are missing some key point. Part of it seems to be we are letting time slide through our fingers after the initial relationship is made.
Another new adventure about to be launched is a different twist on a blog page for people whom I have met throughout the world on Google+.
Interesting how we in America talk and discuss Genealogy and many other areas in the world it is a rather,
I suspect novel and unknown thing to do. Ironically, Europe and Asia kept track of their lineages long before we were even created into a country.
So as things seem to come full circle, a new adventure is about to unfold for me. It does not help my soul whom wants to be in SLC area seeing my grandsons and son and daughter in law. It is really only about a 14 hour drive. Alas it will not be.
Today the CVGS Society has a panel of Genealogical Societies in San Diego area presenting their groups advantages and offerings. It should be fun and interesting. Bonita Library 4375 Bonita Road, Bonita, Ca

Thankful Thursday--- Google +
Google +
Yes, I am thankful for the invitation that Brian L sent me to wander around and join the google+ chat
that Mark Olsen is spearheading.
Tonight we marked the 16th day and hours counting. Someone is always in the room. Many are people from all around the world.
Tonight we were discussing how many people from around the world were in the room at once.
The room holds ten guests. They run a Stream so people can hear the dialogue and be aware from out of the room.
Normally we seem to have at least one Canadian, one Australian, one from the UK in and out of the room with people all over America coming in. So it runs about half Americans and half from other regions of the world.
Communication has been fun and interesting. Only the gentleman from Iceland had trouble saying hello. He did wave and smile. The flag he showed told us where he was from. My hope is we can break some barriers that society has set up and learn to share more about each other.
We surmised that we had at least 20 countries represented in probably five days or less.
I recall, Asia, Japan, Australia, UK, Germany, Austria, Poland, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Bahama's
Bermuda, Jamaica, French Canada ie Quebec, , Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, Scotland, Ireland and many of the attendees have come back many times and some only come back once in a while.
Some have become regulars and their knowledge is so refreshing to hear as they speak. We have had talks on many subjects and I tend to ask Genealogical Questions and of course, I get to answer many genealogical questions.
As a Genealogist these rooms can be a great asset. We can do a topic at a time with small groups and really cover the topic well I think. I have attempted to keep track of how long the room with ten people in it can stand the topic of genealogy. Amazing many of them are very interested or wanting to learn and intrigued by what they can learn from what their ancestors did.
If each person shares where they are from and what they know about their family it would cover an hour easily. It is interesting to see how different we are but how alike we are.
Come join us in the chat room, if you can get in. I do not make it daily because it has become such a hot place to check in and say hi.

Monday Madness- Scott Surname of Mine
Scott is a surname I have in my family. Ironically I have found this name not only in Virginia but also in New England. Now that is the twist. Our Ydna match comes from a Scott out of supposedly early Mass to Canada then down into the United States and they are now living in Chicago and Florida.
The farthest I have documented is Thomas Scott's death in Halifax Co. VA. It seems the Scott researchers had hunted for years in Pittsylvania and did not realize that it was Halifax until just after Thomas died.
I surmise Thomas Scott birth to be about 1730.
Death was 1767 Halifax Co. VA
John Scott married Sophira (Sophia) Murray Murry, spelling variant. 18 Nov 1782 Pittsylvania Co. VA
John served in Military. abt 1778 5th Regiment of the Virginia Continental Line; Capt James Williams Company LIsted in DAR Records Military discharged from the Miltary 1782
Owned 175 acres in Pittsylvania Co. VA 1782 tax Records.
He is in Pittsylvania Co. 1782 for marriage, and census he is in VA Military District 1801.
He is in Cumberland Co. Old Cherokee Nation area He is on 1830 census for Cumberland Cp. Ky
Death was 24 March 1843
He has many children:
Shadrack born 22 Feb 1790 in Pittsylvania Co. VA death 11 Nov 1850 Henry Co. IA. grew up in KY.
marries 1815 in KY to Harriet Cynthia Lewis. Believe her kin was neighbors in VA? not proven yet.
I have her picture. She b 1 May 1798 NC ? death 4 May 1887 Marion, Henry Co.. IA.
Shadrack and Harriet have: Nathaniel. John Cornelius *, Betsey, James Dallas, Abner Robert, Strother, Nancy Susan, Shadrack, Helen, & Harriet Cynthia Scott.

Thomas Scott being very sick and week but in perfect mind and memmory ordaineth this his last will and testament that is to say first of all I devise my land where on now I live the hole tract may be sold for money to pay all my just debts and the remaining part of the price of the land may be aplyed to the necessary support of my family. Next it is my will and desire that my wife Susana Scott may have negro girl filis with all my other movable goods also all my chattels of every kind for the support of her self and my children in during her lifetime and at her deth what is remaining to be equally devided amongh my children quantity and quality and I do hereby appoint constitute and ordain Francis Brandon with my well beloved wife Susana Scott my only and sole executors in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written Signed Thomas Scott and Sealed and Delivered in the presence of Nathaniel Ayers, George Roberts, William Payne.
At a court held for Halifax Co. 19th day February 1767 the within written last will and Testament of Thomas Scott Decd. was exhibited in Court by Francis Brandon Executor and Susana Scott Executor therein appointed who made oath thereto according to law and the same was proved by the affirmation of Nathaniel Ayres, William Payne two of the subscribing witnesses and ordered to be recorded and the said executor and Executrix having together with Nathaniel Terry? Gent. their security entered into and acknowledged bond as the law directs on their motion. Certificate was granted them for obtaining a probate of the said will in due form. Tese. The inventory of the estate was probably made in May 1767 (Halifax Co., Va., Will Bk. O, p. 226-227).

Because of the way the next page is copied, about three lines are omitted at the top of the page. To. 1 pan; To. 8 spoons and 1 churn. To. 3 axes, 2 how, 1 mattock, 1 wedge, 1-----, 1 pinchers?; To. 1 sining wheal, 2 other wheals, 16 whole stick?; To. 1 parl button & ? –potrach?, 1 g-----; To. 3 –2 saddles; To. 4 sheep, 1 black mare; To. 1 set of plow irons; To. 1 ---- ---- mare, 1 black horse; To. 5 geese; To. 2 hens?; To. 5 cows with yearlings; To. 4 bells; To. 1 Box iron cups and ----- 1 lock; To. 2 chests of books; To. 9 chairs, 1 conk shell; John Lawson, William Brandon, John Colwell. At a court held for Halifax County the 18th day of June 1789, the written inventory and appraisement was ---- ordered to be recorded. Test Robert ---- (probably Munford).
(WE recently learned that James Scott also of Halifax Co died in 1758. If so may be a clue to birth place.)
Also a William whom I have tied to our lines. I think?
Thomas had more children than what we have proven: These proven are: Nimrod Sr. Anne, Jacob, and John.
Thomas wife was Susanna or Luriana ( I think it a mis spelling due to condition of paper. She may have been a Payne ??
Will says Susanna and court order when she sued says the other spelling.
